Landscape Design & Consultation
Our landscape design service begins with a thorough site analysis including soil testing, sun and shade mapping, drainage assessment, and measurement of existing features. We create scaled base plans using AutoCAD and produce 3D rendered concept views that allow you to see proposed plantings, hardscape elements, and lighting effects before construction begins. Our designers hold diplomas from recognized landscape architecture programs and stay current with Ontario-specific plant material availability, invasive species regulations, and water conservation bylaws.
Plant selection is based on a detailed evaluation of your sites microclimate conditions, soil pH and texture, maintenance preferences, and seasonal colour goals. We prioritize native and adapted species that support local pollinators, require minimal irrigation once established, and provide multi-season interest. For each project, we prepare a full plant schedule with botanical and common names, mature sizes, spacing requirements, and care instructions. Hardscape materials are selected based on durability, slip resistance, freeze-thaw performance, and visual compatibility with your homes architecture.
Lawn Care & Maintenance Programs
Our lawn maintenance programs run from April through November and are tailored to each propertys specific grass type, sun exposure, and usage patterns. Standard weekly service includes mowing with sharpened blades at the optimal height for the season, string trimming along all edges, walkway and patio blowing, and removal of all grass clippings and debris. Biweekly and monthly schedules are available for clients with lower maintenance requirements. During peak growing periods in May and June, we may increase frequency to maintain proper turf height and appearance.
Our turf health program is a six-step annual cycle aligned with cool-season grass growth patterns in southern Ontario. The program includes early spring lime and fertilizer application, pre-emergent crabgrass control, core aeration and over-seeding in late summer, fall fertilizer with higher potassium content for winter hardiness, and a final winterizing treatment. All fertilizer products are slow-release formulations that minimize nutrient runoff and provide consistent feeding over 8 to 10 weeks. Weed control is spot-treated using products targeted to specific weed species rather than blanket applications.
Hardscaping & Masonry
Our hardscape installations are built to withstand Canadian winters through proper base preparation and material selection. We excavate to minimum depths of 8 inches for pedestrian areas and 12 inches for driveways, compacting the subgrade to 98 percent Standard Proctor density before installing 6 inches of granular A base material. Base compaction is verified with a nuclear density gauge on larger projects. Edge restraints are installed with rebar pins driven at 24-inch intervals, and all joints are filled with polymeric sand that hardens to prevent weed growth and ant infiltration.
We offer natural stone products including Pennsylvania bluestone, Oklahoma flagstone, Quebec granite, and Muskoka granite, as well as manufactured concrete pavers from Unilock, Belgard, and Techo-Bloc in a wide range of colours, textures, and patterns. Retaining walls are designed with proper drainage aggregate behind the wall, perforated drain pipe at the base, and geogrid reinforcement for walls exceeding 4 feet in height. Each wall is engineered to resist active soil pressure and hydrostatic water pressure based on site-specific conditions.
Irrigation System Design & Installation
Our irrigation systems are custom-designed using Rain Bird MAXI and Hunter ACC2 controllers with flow sensors and weather stations that automatically adjust watering schedules based on evapotranspiration rates. Each zone is individually calculated for precipitation rate, matched precipitation nozzles are specified within each zone to ensure even water distribution, and head-to-head coverage is verified through design software before installation. We use pressure-regulated spray heads and rotary nozzles that maintain consistent output across the system regardless of elevation changes or distance from the water source.
Drip irrigation zones are installed for garden beds, hedge rows, and planter boxes using pressure-compensating emitters that deliver precise flow rates regardless of run length. All systems includerain sensors, freeze sensors, and master valves that shut off the main line in the event of a pipe break. Backflow preventers are installed in accordance with Ontario Building Code requirements and tested annually by certified backflow testers. We provide a full demonstration of the system upon completion, including controller programming, zone identification, and seasonal startup and shutdown procedures.
Tree, Shrub & Arboricultural Services
Our tree care services are supervised by certified arborists who assess each tree for structural integrity, disease symptoms, pest infestations, and safety hazards. Pruning is performed according to ANSI A300 standards using proper cutting techniques that preserve the branch collar and promote rapid wound closure. We perform crown cleaning, crown thinning, crown raising, and crown reduction depending on the trees species, age, and condition. Hazardous tree removal is conducted using rigging and controlled lowering techniques to protect surrounding structures and landscaping, with bucket truck access for trees up to 70 feet tall.
Stump grinding is performed using Vermeer and Bandit stump grinders that grind to a minimum depth of 8 inches below grade, with the resulting wood chips and soil mix used as backfill. Plant health care treatments include soil injection of nutrients and fungicides, trunk injection for specific pest control, and foliar applications for foliar diseases. Our arborists also provide tree risk assessments using the TRAQ methodology, tree preservation plans for construction sites, and expert witness testimony for tree-related disputes.
Snow & Ice Management
Our winter services division operates from November 1 through April 15 each season, providing 24-hour coverage for commercial and residential clients. We monitor five different weather forecasting services and maintain on-site ground temperature sensors that trigger deployment when conditions meet predetermined thresholds. Our fleet of 12 plow trucks, 4 skid steers with snow blower attachments, and 20 walk-behind snow blowers ensures we can handle properties of any size, from single driveway residential accounts to 50-acre commercial and institutional sites.
De-icing programs use a combination of pre-treatment with brine solution applied 24 to 48 hours before forecasted events, followed by rock salt application during and after the storm. For environmentally sensitive areas, we offer calcium chloride and magnesium acetate alternatives that are less harmful to concrete, vegetation, and aquatic ecosystems. Sidewalk and walkway clearing is completed within 4 hours of the end of a snowfall for commercial contracts and by 9 AM for residential contracts. Snow haulage is available for sites where accumulated snow exceeds available storage areas.
